This has truly been a fully packed term. The children continue to impress us with their enthusiasm and positive attitude towards learning, and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved.
Despite it being a short term, we have managed to fit in so much—from exciting sporting events to welcoming visitors, as well as an amazing Science Week that inspired curiosity and discovery across the school. Our Easter Egg Hunt also created a great deal of excitement and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children.
I have been absolutely blown away by the fantastic progress made by Water Class in the water! Their confidence and skills in swimming, diving and lifesaving have massively improved. I hope they continue to take their swimming forward as this is a fantastic life skill. I look forward to hearing about them in the future. I am sure we will have some amazing swimmers for future galas.

Earth Class
This half term Earth class have been learning all about farms. The children enjoyed a special visit from our very own Mr Swaby, Joseph’s dad, who arrived with his John Deere tractor. They asked many questions and climbed aboard to look closely. We also talked about kindness and forgiveness when mistakes happen, linking farm teamwork to caring for each other.
Water Class
In Water Class, the children have demonstrated forgiveness both towards themself and others. We worked on our 'self esteem' and discussed being forgiving of our flaws and mistakes and celebrating our strengths and qualities. The children gave one another compliments to add to their ideas. We also discussed forgiveness towards each other and how friendship is built on compromise, forgiveness and understanding. The children created 'friendship circles', reflecting on people within their inner or outer circles of friends. They discussed how they could grow some of these friendships with forgiveness being a common theme. Our Jigsaw unit this term continues to explore forgiveness including looking at healthy friendships and group dynamics.
Air Class
Air Class have had a busy half term learning about change. In History, we studied Paul Stephenson. In English, we read Oliver Moon, and in Maths, we learned multiplication, division, and fractions. We also explored forgiveness, understanding the importance of kindness, empathy, and giving others a second chance when mistakes happen.
Fire Class
This term, as always, has been a very busy and productive one, with the children fully engaging in a wide range of learning opportunities. Some of our highlights have included Science Week, where pupils designed and carried out their own investigations, exploring the absorption and strength of different materials. It was fantastic to see their curiosity and teamwork in action.
We also had great fun launching our electric-powered speed boats, putting our design and technology skills to the test. The children showed excellent creativity and problem-solving throughout the project.
World Book Day was another special moment, as we enjoyed sharing stories together and celebrating our love of reading.
In addition, many of the children successfully achieved their different levels during Bikeability, demonstrating confidence and responsibility when cycling.
To top it all off, we were thrilled to wave to Greg James as he rode past on his Comic Relief journey — a memorable and exciting experience for everyone!
Sports News
Mrs Willden from The Snaith School visited recently to give some of our Y5/6 pupils the opportunity to play kin-ball.
She was so impressed with our children that she emailed 'I wanted to get in touch to say how much I enjoyed working with your Year 5 and 6 pupils during the Kin-Ball session yesterday afternoon. Their overall ability was excellent, and it was great to see that some pupils remembered and applied the skills they had learned last year.
They showed a really positive attitude throughout, and I’m confident they have a strong chance of doing well at the competition next week. I hope as many of them as possible are able to attend.

We enjoyed your visit too, Mrs Wilden, and we came second in the tournament - well done everyone that took part!
Fire Class girls also visited Thornesians Rugby Club this week to take part in a tag rugby festival with children from other local authorities. They thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and came second overall in the festival. There were 9 individual awards and three of these went to our pupils.

Ava - outstanding performance, showing fantastic potential and displaying a brilliant attitude throughout the festival;
Scarlett - exceptional teamwork, respect, kindness and encouragment both on and off the pitch;
Liberty - resilience, determination and 100% effort in every game!
Book Fair
Thank you to everyone that attended the Book Fair. Your generosity has enabled us to receive £160 worth of free books for the school library.
As you can see, our librarians are very excited about the new titles that can be borrowed after Easter.
Special Visitor!
There were some very excited children in Earth Class and Air Class today as the Easter bunny paid us a visit - he was very naughty and left a lot of little 'messages' around the classrooms! We do forgive him though as he also left Easter Eggs for all the children to take home!
A big thank you to the PTA for providing him with the eggs. They are able to provide treats through their fundraising efforts and the support they get from parents. Other items they have provided this year include puddle suits for Earth Class, transport for the pantomime, transport for the Big SIng and Little Big Sing, Christmas chocolates for Santa to distribute, Valentines treats, professional DJ, The Grinch visit, drinks and snacks for the pantomime and groundwork for the new Forest School Cabin.
A massive thank you to them, and to you all for your support!
In other news...
We were successful in our bid from Tesco and have been awarded £500 from the blue token initiative. Thank you to everyone who supported us. We have also received a very kind donation of £200 from one of our families to put towards new equipment - they wish to remain anonymous, so a big thank you to them! We will be starting this project after Easter, with the hope of it being completed in the summer holidays.
Thank you for all the donations for Red Nose Day - we will be sending a fabulous £81.50 to Comic Relief. Keep a look out for some of our children in the Goole Times!
Fire Safety
We recently had a visit from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.
They talked to the children about Fire Safety and the importance of making your home safe from possible risks of fire, including fitting smoke alarms.

Reminders
After School Club
Just a gentle reminder that the After School Club provision closes at 5.30pm. Please try to collect your children on time.
Play Equipment
Please do not let your children use the play equipment on the field before and after school as we are not responsble for any injuries sustained out of school hours.
