As we approach the end of a busy half term, it is hard to believe that Christmas is almost here. It has been wonderful to welcome so many of you into school for assemblies, Christingle, and the Christmas nativity, as well as the KS2 performance of Christmas songs and traditions through Europe. The signed, 'We wish you a merry Christmas' brought a tear to my eye. The children have been exceptionally busy, learning songs and engaging in Christmas crafts.
The pantomime was a blast, and we received numerous compliments regarding the conduct and behaviour of all our children within the Federation. Well done to Mrs Clark for her brave participation on stage!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas disco, arranged by our wonderful PTA - a massive thank you to everyone involved. The arrival of The Grinch was very well received!
Thank you for all your support. Wishing all our families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming the children back in January.

Earth Class
Our parent Christmas craft session filled the school with creativity, warmth, and compassion as families worked together on festive projects. Parents and children shared laughter, supported one another, and celebrated the joy of giving. The event strengthened bonds, encouraged kindness, and created cherished Christmas memories for everyone to share together.
Water Class
This half term in Water Class, we have been celebrating our differences through our Jigsaw lessons, learning how each person’s uniqueness makes our community stronger. During Anti-Bullying Week, we explored how to be upstanders and show kindness in our words and actions. Guided by our Christian value of compassion, we continue to care for, include, and support one another each day, helping our class feel safe, happy, and united.
Air Class
In Air Class we have spent this term creating an environment which demonstrates compassion, where kindness and empathy are part of everyday life. We listen carefully to each other’s worries, celebrate our successes and offer encouragement to each other when we struggle. We are also getting excited ready for Christmas!
Fire Class
This half term has been a very busy one! We loved our parent assembly – it’s going to be one of those moments we remember for a long time! We’ve also enjoyed our music lessons with Mr Elliott – you will be able to see a photo of us practising for our performance with Water Class. Our lesson with Leigh from Drax was brilliant too! We were learning all about levers and pulleys. We’re also looking forward to making our electric fan boats and launching our rockets!
During lessons, we have shown compassion by respecting others, working hard, and being honest friends. It has been commented on by our different visitors such as Leigh from Drax and Reverend Eleanor (during our pilgrimage lessons) how we all demonstrate kindness and responsibility that helps create a caring learning environment for everyone.
Sports News
The children in Earth Class have recently been training to be elves and reindeers, in Santa's workshop, as part of their PE lesson. They have been 'rolling snowballs', 'passing the reindeer food in teams to the reindeer store' and 'collecting presents' to help Santa. We had lots of fun! I am pleased to announce that they all passed their elf training!
We have lots of PE and sport to look forward to next half term, including dodgeball competitions, swimming for Water Class and Mrs Wilden from The Snaith School coming in to teach kin-ball to some of our children.
Student Council
We recently held elections in classes to choose our new student councillors. These children will represent the views of their classmates in regular meetings, where they can put forward ideas for any improvements or equipment they would like to see or any fundraising they would like to do.
Congratulations to Annie in Earth Class, Millie and Isaac in Air Class, Eva and Byron in Water Class and Jasper and Ava in Fire Class!
A fond farewell!
It is with a heavy heart that we say farewell to our much loved Canon Eleanor:
Oh, Canon Eleanor, with your big round glasses,
Your laughter, a melody that brightens our classes.
In worship you led, with grace and with cheer,
Your warmth and your wisdom, we’ll hold ever dear.
From pilgrimages shared, to stories that spark,
You’ve guided our hearts, igniting the dark.
With humour and kindness, you’ve shown us the way,
In our school’s cherished memories, forever you’ll stay.
As you journey ahead, know we’ll miss your sweet sound,
In the tapestry of our lives, your love will abound.

Christmas Lunch
A massive thank you to Mrs Howard, Mrs Brewis, Mrs Vermeulen, Mrs Grantham, Mrs Parkin and the entire team for ensuring a memorable Christmas lunch. We had crackers, hats, music, very loud singing, a bit of dancing and a delicious Christmas Dinner!
This was followed by a wonderful Christmas Concert by the School Music Team - led by the lovely Mrs Calvert! The children were so pleased to see her and really enjoyed the concert by her and her staff.
Reminders
Tesco Stronger Starts
A last reminder to please put your blue tokens in the Cowick slot (middle one at Goole Superstore) - we are up against stiff competition so please keep voting!
Parking
Staff who have been outside school recently at the end of the school day have noticed that there are many parents and grandparents who are using the school carpark. The car park is for staff use only unless you are a blue badge holder, or have been issued with a school permit.
It is also worrying that some cars are pulling into the car park at speed when we have children who are walking home. Please be mindful of the danger of small children running out into the car park if you do have a permit.
Carols in Church
We do hope you can join us at 1.30pm tomorrow (Friday 19th December) in Church, when the whole school will come together to sing a mixture of carols and Christmas songs. You will be able to take your child home after the service has finished.
