Wow, what a packed half term this has been! I am sure all of the children are ready for the break.
Following valuable feedback from parents, we will primarily share updates via Dojo. As per request, we have uploaded all the dates we have for the diary up until the summer. Please note, these may be subject to change, and we will notify you of any changes on Dojo.
In our newsletters, we will focus on celebrating our children's achievements, providing short updates on their fabulous work in school, and including a short governor section to engage you with our governance. We’ll also include the usual attendance data.
We’re excited to announce that governors will be assigned to each class on Class Dojo to observe the wonderful work underway. If you have any concerns, please notify the office by Monday 3rd November.

Our Attendance to date is: 96.44%

Sports News
A huge well done to the children who took part in the benchball competition recently. A special mention to 'Cowick 6-7' who were the overall winners.
KS2 children have been having tag rugby lessons this half term with Grace from Wakefield Trinity, which they have thoroughly enjoyed.
Next half term we have table tennis and indoor athletics cluster competitions to look forward to.
Earth Class
This half term our topic is called Wonderful Me! We have looked at what makes us special and unique. We have taken part in a daily lesson that focuses on gross motor skills where the children use a ribbon to follow a set of patterns to classical music.
Water Class
In Water Class this half term, we have been demonstrating our Christian value of ‘generosity’ in many ways, including children writing their own news articles to share with yourselves all about our fantastic trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park! They structured their writing to ensure it had a clear introduction, paragraphs recounting the events of the day in chronological order and a concluding paragraph. They were tasked with including expanded noun phrases (e.g. the towering giraffes in the enclosure), verbs and adverbs (e.g. we watched them elegantly strolling around) and time adverbials (e.g. ‘After lunch, we…’). We hope you enjoy reading it!
Air Class
This half term Air Class thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. They lived out our Christian value of generosity by spending their time to create art work linked with our visit which we then sent with a letter to the Wildlife Park to thank them for their time.
Fire Class
Fire Class have been getting stuck into their topic this term and are looking forward to sharing their learning during the parents’ assembly (6th November). They have been busy learning a dance routine, and creating some wonderful pieces of art inspired by different artists: Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. They have also been able to produce some excellent pieces of writing throughout the half term whilst enjoying our class text: Kensuke’s Kingdom. Before our parents’ assembly, there will be a chance for parents to come in and listen to their children read in school. The Fire Class team look forward to seeing everyone then.
Fire Class pupils are always looking at ways to meet their Hive Five Rules. This term, they have shown how generous they are with their time by being a good friend and being respectful.

A huge THANK YOU to the PTA for providing Earth Class children with puddle suits! This will allow our children to access outdoor learning in all weathers. They have already been put to very good use!
The children were so excited to try them out - a big well done to Cara for being our top model and showcasing the new puddle suits to all the staff!
Another thank you!
Another massive THANK YOU to Shapla at East Cowick for providing Earth Class with a huge feast for their Divali celebrations. They have tried curries, rice, samosa, bhajis, naan, poppadoms and dips.
They have listened to Indian style music, learnt some Indian style dances and had mehndi symbols drawn on their hands.
May your path be lit with peace, prosperity and positivity - Shush Deepavali!

Reminders
Tesco Stronger Starts
Don't forget to put your blue tokens in the Cowick slot (middle one at Goole Superstore) - we are up against stiff competition so please keep voting!
Breaktimes
After half term, KS2 children will need to bring a change of clothing and shoes if they want to play on the field at lunchtimes.
On Mondays and Wednesdays it will be the turn of Fire Class - please bring trousers/joggers and footwear.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays Water Class will have their turn - please bring trousers/joggers and footwear.
Anyone who doesn't have a change of clothes will be restricted to playground activities only.
Bag2School
The collection will take place on the morning of the 10th November. Please drop your bags off outside the office by 9.00am!
Remembrance
After half term we will be selling poppies and other items from the Royal British Legion (Yes, the snap bands are back!) Please call at the office if you would like to purchase any items.
School Lunches
We have a new menu stating after half term. We have also updated our School Food Policy. Details about school lunches and recommendations for packups can be found on the school lunch page of the parents tab on the website.
